The “enclosures” are the vineyards situated within the confines of the castle walls. In exceptional years, these tempranillo vines produce our Cerrado del Castillo wine. This vineyard consists of bush vines, planted in 1980 and organically grown. The soil is an alluvial terrace from the tertiary period with pebbles from the Tirón river. It is a very loosely packed, deep, poor soil over a sandstone bedrock. El Cerrado has been classified as a “Viñedo Singular” by the DOCa Rioja.
