VINTAGE SHEET 2022
Highly exclusive, small-production white wine crafted from old Viura vines in the “Vallimedio” vineyard, situated at 650 metres above sea level in the north-westernmost part of Cuzcurrita, bordering the province of Burgos. Years produced: Since 2017
Variety: Viura
Soil: The vineyard is located on a hill formed by a bank of the typical, highly weathered sandstone rock of the area: Many of the vine stocks grow from the cracks in the rock, with the soil in the fissures and which surrounds the roots being of a clay-loam nature.
Viticulture: Bush vines, all over 60 years’ old.
Harvest: 22 September, hand-harvested into 20 kg crates, with sorting table selection.
Vinification: Static, cold débourbage and fermentation controlled at 18-20ºC. It ferments with the skins and once alcoholic fermentation is complete the wine is racked off into used French-oak barrels where it remains for several months in contact with its lees until bottling.
Ageing: 6 months in used, 225 and 500 litre, fine-grained, French-oak casks with a medium toast followed by 24 months in the bottle.
Bottling: June 2023, without any prior fining or stabilisation.
tasting notes
Greenish-yellow in colour, with an intense and complex nose showing notes of white fruit alongside balsamic and gently spiced nuances. Fresh, well-balanced, complex and elegant on the palate, with a rounded, lingering finish and excellent aromatic persistence. A wine with further potential for bottle ageing over the coming years.
