Vintage sheet
2018
The first white wie to be made in the bodega with a small number of bottles and made from old viura vines from the “Vallimedio” vineyard situated at an altitude of 650 metres in the most north-eastern zone of Cuzcurrita bordering with the province of Burgos.
Vintages produced: First vintage 2017.
Variety: Viura.
Soil: The vines grow on a hillside formed by a bank of sandstone, a typical rock from this highly weathered area; many of the vines live in the cracks in the rock and the soil found in these fissures, which has a clay-loam texture, surrounds the roots.
Viticulture: Bush vines, all over 50 years’ old, cultivated according to organic viticulture practices.
Harvest: 10 October in 20-kilo crates and selected on a sorting table. A complex vintage with a late sprouting than the average of recent years, with a very rainy winter and spring. Summer also started with rain but from the last 2 weeks of July the rains stopped and conditions improved for the ripening of grapes.
Vinification: Cold static débourbage and controlled fermentation at 18-20ºC. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is racked into used French-oak casks where it remains for several months with its lees until time for bottling.
Ageing: 9 months in used, 225 and 500 litre, French-oask casks with a fine grain and medium toast, followed by 12 months in the bottle.
