An old vineyard with very poor soil situated above the village, at an altitude of 600 metres, on a hill formed by a bank of sandstone which is typical in the area. Many of the vines grow in the cracks in the rock. Calcareous clay soils with outcrops of sandstone slabs.
It is only in those exceptional years that these tempranillo vines achieve perfect phenolic ripeness and produce our Tilo wine. The bush vines are over 70 years’ old and are organically grown.
El Monte has been classified as a “Viñedo Singular” by the DOCa Rioja.
